About Me

In September 1996, I began offering private drum instruction. This is now my 13th year and what a great experience it has been! I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented kids, teenagers, and adults. I currently offer instruction for all ages starting from the beginning level and onto intermediate and advanced levels in the following:

  • Snare Drum
  • Drum Set
  • Timpani
  • Auxiliary Percussion
  • I was only eight years old when I received my first drum set and lesson. In the 5th grade I joined the organized school band where I began to learn the mechanics, rudiments and how to read rhythms. I also started to understand how drums and percussion fit into the big picture of music. In addition to receiving private lessons, I was very fortunate to be involved with a tremendous band program from elementary school all the way though high school. Highlights of my high school music education experience include:

  • Attending a percussion symposium at the University of Tennessee where I received instruction from the world’s top professional percussionists and drummers from the time.
  • Section Leader of the Arab High School Marching Band drum line for two years.
  • Nominated to the “All American Hall of Fame of Band Students”
  • Received a medal for excellent play and participation in the Jacksonville State University Honors Band; also earned first chair in the tryouts
  • I have played with various local bands throughout the years and I have experience playing various styles of music including Rock & Roll, Contemporary Christian, Country, Southern Gospel, Jazz, and Funk. In addition to giving lessons and maintaining a full-time job, I presently play in the Contemporary Worship Service at the First United Methodist Church in Arab, Alabama, as well as a Classic Rock/Pop band. I also continue to take private lessons from professional musicians; I feel like you can never stop learning and growing in the great art of drumming.
